Do I need a visa to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan?

Please note that Kazakhstan suspended  visa-free regime for citizens of 57 states until December 31, 2021. Restriction does not apply to citizens of those countries which have signed bilateral agreements on visa-free regime with Republic of Kazakhstan. Please, find more information HERE.

In order for a foreign citizen to enter Kazakhstan, the host party needs to apply for a special permission, which is issued by the decision of the Interdepartmental Commission under the Government of Kazakstan. 

Process of obtaining the permission from Interdepartmental Commission on entry of foreign citizen to the Republic of Kazakhstan:

Step 1

The host entity determines the need for the precense of the foreign expert on the project in Kazakhstan.

Step 2

Based on the requirements of the region the host entity prepares an official letter on attracting a foreign citizen addressed to the Akim (Mayor) of the region. After review and preliminary approval of Akimat (local Mayory), an application will be forwarded for further approval by the Interdepartmental Commission.

Step 3

Interdepartmental Commission reviews the documents at the Meeting and makes the decision on issuance or refusal on entry permit of a foreign expert.

Step 4

In case of approval Interdepartmental Commission issues the Minutes of the meeting with the approved list of companies and foreign citizens, who are permitted to enter Kazakhstan.

Step 5

Company follows further standard procedures for attracting a foreign labour to the Republic of Kazakhstan.


A visa is NOT required for a period of up to 30 days for citizens of:
Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican and Vietnam.

 *In accordance with the article 6 of the national law On Migration, nationals of the above-mentioned countries can enter and stay in Kazakhstan for a period up to 30 calendar days at each entry, but not exceeding 90 calendar days cumulatively within 180 calendar days.

Foreign citizens of above-mentioned states do not need a visa to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan and to stay for short-term business and tourism purposes. To perform services or to carry out labour activities, it is obligatory to obtain the multiple business visa B2 or working visa C3.

A visa is NOT required for an established term for citizens of:
Argentina (30 days within a year), Azerbaijan (30 days), Brazil (30 days within a year), Ecuador (30 days within any 180 days period), Hong Kong (14 days) and Serbia (30 days).
These nationalities do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan and to stay for short-term business and tourism purposes. To perform services or to carry out labour activities, is it obligatory to obtain the multiple business visa B2 or working visa C3.

A visa is NOT required for a period of up to 90 days for citizens of:
Armenia, Georgia and Moldova.
These nationalities do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan and to stay for short-term business and tourism purposes. To perform services or to carry out labour activities, is it obligatory to obtain the multiple business visa B2 or working visa C3.
Citizens of Ukraine do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan and to stay for a period of 90 days within any 180 days for short-term business and tourism purposes. To perform services or to carry out labour activities, is it obligatory to obtain the multiple business visa B2 or working visa C3.

A visa is NOT required for a period of up to 90 days for citizens of:
Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
These nationalities do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan and to stay for short-term business and tourism purposes. To perform services or to carry out labour activities, is it obligatory to apply for a long term registration.

A visa is NOT required for a period of up to 30 days for citizens of:
Uzbekistan. Uzbek citizens do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan and to stay for short-term business and tourism purposes. To perform services or to carry out labour activities, is it obligatory to apply for a long term registration.
